today i implemented the concept of the nfl injury report into my social life (ie. listed as probable, questionable, doubtful, etc. for playing, or, in this case, going out). it immediately became my favourite 'sports = life' idea since a friend and i compared romantic relationship politics to baseball bullpens in the summer.

i'd like to here how the bullpen conversation went
the theory is basically as follows: if a girl you're interested in is in a relationship, the guy is the closer. this doesn't mean that he's necessarily mariano rivera-caliber. but even if he's just a joe borowski-caliber boyfriend, it's not enough to be a rafael betancourt-caliber setup guy. you're still not going to steal that closer's job unless joe borowski makes a few mistakes, blows a few saves. even then, it depends on how attached that manager is to joe borowski. if the team has invested a lot of money into him, or the manager is a loyal dude, then you, rafael betancourt, may never receive a chance to close and will just have to settle for being the setup man.
That was so awesome.
